EMERGENCY
DIAL 911 FOR IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE ANYWHERE IN BROWN COUNTY.
THE 911 SYSTEM
Your call to 911 goes to the Brown
County Communication
Center at 755 Mt. Orab Pike in Georgetown.
You will hear three rings as Verizon’s
routing system accesses the Communications
Center. After the
first ring a computer screen provides a 911 operator with the address of
the phone and the name of the individual, business, or organization at that
address. Appropriate fire, law enforcement, or life squad personnel are dispatched
immediately. Even if the caller is unable to talk or hangs up after the
first ring, emergency personnel will respond to the call.
In case of power failure, the Communications
Center has its own
generator system.
NOTE: The address and non-emergency phone number for local life squads,
fire, and police departments are listed in this directory under the heading
Government – Brown County Villages.
Help 911 to Help You!
You can help our emergency response teams by registering any information
they should know about the residents of your home, your location, or
special conditions in the home. This information will be included with your
address when any fire, law enforcement, or life squad personnel respond to
an emergency call from your home.
Special Directions To Your Home.
If more detailed directions would help emergency personnel in locating your
home, you can provide additional information and a description of your home
that will be included with your address in the Communication Center’s
computer.
Special Conditions In Your Home.
You should consider registering with 911 if you have small children, or if
any individuals in your home are bedridden, handicapped, hearing impaired,
or have special medical conditions or medication needs.
You may also want to include the location and a description of any fuel
or propane tanks, hazardous chemicals, and a description of any potentially
dangerous pets or other animals.
To register additional information you believe could be important, call
the Communication
Center at (937)
378-4155 and ask for the Brown County 911 Enrollment Form.
EMERGENCY
/ TORNADO WARNING SYSTEM
Warning system sirens in 16 locations throughout Brown County
will sound an alert in the event of an emergency or when tornado activity
has been spotted. You should take cover immediately!
Sirens will be tested at noon on the first Friday of each month if the
weather is clear.
